What’s New on the M/S Mount Washington for 2012
Posted on May 18th, 2012 No comments
Now that spring is here and summer is just around the corner, thoughts are turning to the age-old NH tradition of sailing, paddling, and cruising on Lake Winnipesaukee. In keeping with that tradition, the biggest party boat on the lake has its customary schedule of cruises and events—as well as some new options—lined up for a fun-filled season on the water! The M/S Mount Washington is a first-class, 230-foot excursion ship that sets out on scenic cruises every day and sunset dinner cruises each evening. “The Mount” has many ports on Lake Winnipesaukee, including Weirs Beach, Wolfeboro, Alton Bay, Meredith, and Center Harbor. During the summer months, the ship visits all its ports frequently during the day, and passengers can take a cruise from one lakeside town, get off and spend some time visiting another little town, then board again and return to the home port.* At night, the Mount becomes a hot spot, with a themed dinner dance cruise every evening. Check out the Tribute to Elvis, the Summer Lobsterfest, or the Parrot Head Party Cruise, to name a few.
In addition to its regular dinner cruises out of Weirs Beach, this year the Mount has added dinner dance cruises that set out from Meredith on Friday nights as well. Guests of The Inns & Spa at Mill Falls need only walk a short distance to the Town Docks to be able to experience the magic of Lake Winnipesaukee at night! These cruises also feature a variety of themes, so be sure to check the Friday night schedule. The Mount also comes to Meredith on Mondays for a day cruise starting at noon. Passengers can purchase lunch on board while enjoying a beautiful tour around the some of islands and bays of Lake Winnipesaukee. On Sundays, the Mount hosts a Sunday Champagne Brunch Cruise that sets out from Alton Bay and Weirs Beach, which is just a short drive from Meredith.
For families, the Mount hosts a Wednesday night family cruise, where kids 12 and under cruise for free. There is also Family Fun Day every Friday, with lots of games and activities for kids and adults of all ages.
Memorial Day Weekend will be the big season kickoff for the Mount, and it will be offering special discounts for children, seniors, military personnel and veterans, and public service workers such as police officers, firefighters, and EMTs. Please check the Memorial Day schedule for all the specials!
There are so many events on the M/S Mount Washington this summer we can’t list them all here! Be sure to check the ship’s website, and especially the events page, for all the fun happenings. Then get your friends together for a cruise you won’t soon forget. Bon voyage!
