Don’t Miss the Mid-Summer Art Walk in Center Sandwich

Another Lakes Region town can be counted among NH communities who offer popular art walks, where visitors can tour local galleries, enjoy refreshments and hors d’oeuvres, and meet the artists whose work is on exhibit. Stroll the streets of Center Sandwich, see what’s new in the art world, and enjoy music and great food at the Corner House Inn afterward.

On Friday, July 13^th, Center Sandwich will be holding its second Gallery Walk of the season from 5 – 7 p.m. The Patricia Ladd Carega Gallery, The Sandwich Home Industries, and Surroundings Art Gallery will open their doors that evening to celebrate art, music, and conversation as they feature the work of New England artists and those who have a connection to the area. Guests who visit all three galleries will receive a discount on dinner at the Corner House Inn on Main Street.

At the Patricia Ladd Carega Gallery, two exhibits are currently on view. The first, “Eastern Influences in Western Art,” explores the art of four New England artists whose work has been greatly influenced by travel to the Far East or by the study of Chinese customs during different Dynasties.  The second exhibit is “Art that Tells a Story,” highlighting camps on Squam Lake, a residency and collaboration in Nova Scotia, and a perspective of a train ride from Paris to Lyon.

Surroundings Art Gallery displays original artwork by over 20 artists in a variety of media that focus on New Hampshire landscapes. In addition, the gallery has many types of folk art, woodcarvings, and a unique collection of stained glass panels.  The gallery is pleased to now be exhibiting New England landscape oil paintings by Woolsey Conover, as well as new work by Celia Judge and Cam Sinclair.

Sandwich Home Industries exhibits work by juried members of the League of NH Craftsmen in a wide variety of traditional and contemporary craft, including pottery, glass, prints, wood, jewelry, metal, stone, and basketry. The gallery is dedicated to education, and offers workshops, demonstrations, and classes throughout the summer.

After a tour of all the galleries, relax with dinner and live music at the Corner House Inn. Guests can enjoy Sta’s Charismatic acoustic rock in the pub, and dinner in both the restaurant and pub will be served until 10:00 p.m. The Corner House Inn is known for its Storytelling Dinner series each October through May, as well as other special events throughout the year. Of course, the food is top-notch!
