Boston Chronicle Visits the Inns & Spa at Mill Falls
Posted on November 14th, 2012 No commentsWhile The Inns & Spa at Mill Falls and the surrounding village of Meredith, NH are popular Lakes Region destinations, well known to many people within as well as outside the area, these local treasures are about to gain an even wider audience and greater exposure, as they have been featured on a Boston travel show that is scheduled to air tonight!
Shayna Seymore and Bob Oliver from Boston Chronicle visited Meredith last month on October 15th and 16th, staying overnight at the Lodges at Church Landing, the latest addition to the Inns & Spa at Mill Falls. The two were in town to film a segment for a series that the show produces called “A Tank Away,” which features great places to visit within a tank of gas from Boston. The special series is filmed every season, and the Chronicle crew timed their visit to coincide with the peak of fall foliage in the Lakes Region.
“Somebody contacted my executive producer about the Inns & Spa at Mill Falls, and put him on to this little gem out there,” explains Shayna. “We hadn’t been to Meredith in a while, so we thought it would be a perfect opportunity to check out what’s going on there and to check out the rest of the town. It made sense to do New Hampshire in that area, if not the summer then definitely the fall.”
Shayna and Bob spent two full days checking out the Inns and the surrounding community. “We went to Moulton Farm, that was our first stop,” says Shayna. “We did the corn maze and we tried some of John’s delicious apple pies, and we did some pumpkin bowling and we fed the animals.” After learning that Meredith has many antique shops, the two visited nearby Antiques at Meredith Bay. “From there we hit the hotel, and we were very impressed by the accommodations.”
While at the Inns, Shayna and Bob interviewed owner Rusty McLear, and then shot some footage of a couples massage and a facial at Cascade Spa. They went on to film a little bit at Lakehouse Grille, where they enjoyed a “very yummy” dinner. “Finally we were done for the day,” says Shayna. It was a very long day.” The next morning, the crew shot some more video at the Inns, the Mill Falls Marketplace, and around the village.
When asked about how they liked their accommodations, Shayna replied, “Oh, we loved it—it was wonderful! I will say I slept so well and the bed was magnificent! The rooms were just so tastefully done. The attention to detail was just impeccable and magnificent. It was really a wonderful, wonderful experience.”
And her favorite part of the visit? “Just the beauty—hands down. I think Meredith is the quintessential New England town . . . this time of year it’s a nice escape; it’s a place to go and decompress. It’s just quiet and calm but charming at the same time. That would be my take-away.”
“We had a really nice trip,” she continues. “Everyone was very welcoming and accommodating, and it’s definitely a place I hope to go back and visit at some point in time in the near future.”
Don’t miss seeing all of Shayna and Bob’s adventures on “A Tank Away” tonight! Tune in to Chronicle on WCVB Channel 5, at 7:30 pm, and watch Shayna as she explores this little “gem” by Lake Winnipesaukee!
