February Vacation Art Days at The Arts CollaborativePosted on February 22nd, 2013 No comments
Fun things to do during February vacation abound in the Lakes Region! After your kids have had some outdoor fun, bring them inside to warm up their creativity—there are some great children’s art programs lined up at The Arts Collaborative, where the resident artists invite you to “Come on over and get your Art on!”
The Arts Collaborative Teaching Studio in Meredith, NH is a place to really explore imagination and innovation. In addition to the regular schedule of classes, the studio has put together some special sessions for kids on break from school next week. On Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday mornings, February 25 – 27 from 9:30am to noon, the “Crazy Creative Kids” program will take place. Children ages 6 – 12 are welcome to join in the fun, led by experienced teaching artists Heidi Little and Cynthia Robinson.
The studio space is warm and inviting, and full of objects of inspiration, from artwork and collaborative pieces to an abundant array of natural, repurposed, recycled, and traditional art materials. “Kids blossom here. I love to watch them light up with ideas galore, as they jump in and get immersed in the creative process, something that comes naturally to them and brings them such delight.” says Heidi Little.
Each day of “Crazy Creative Kids” vacation art classes will have its own theme. Monday is “Make it Papier Mâché”day, where wild imaginations, slippery strips of paper, and fanciful found objects combine to create fantastical creatures, contraptions and structures.
Tuesday will be “Clay Play Day.” Kids will be working with real clay—fun to squish, roll, and stamp with cool textures. Using simple hand building techniques, students will make their own original pieces that will be kiln-fired for future pick up.
Wednesday will be “Colorful Paint” day, where participants can make a masterpiece painting on canvas or add some color and embellishments to their Papier Mâché creation from Monday’s class.
Pre-registration is required, and participants can register for one, two, or three mornings. Each session is $25, or $65 for all three. To register your child, please contact Heidi Little at email@example.com or Cynthia Robinson at Cynthia@ecoartalacarte.com, or call the studio at 603-707-1631.
