Winni Wine Fest

Annual Winnipesaukee Wine Fest Returns to Mill Falls

The Lakes Region of NH is getting ready for the event of the season—two fun nights of fabulous food, wine, and music on the shore of Lake Winnipesaukee that will showcase wines from around the world, along with fabulous food from local restaurants—all while raising funds for a local charitable cause.

The 11th Annual Charitable Winnipesaukee Wine Festival’s grand tasting event will take place on Thursday, June 23rd in the Winnipesaukee Ballroom at Church Landing in Meredith. Festivities begin at 5:30 pm with auctions for getaways, appetizers from local restaurants, and samples of more than 100 wines, craft beers, and spirits from local, national, and international producers. Hosted by The Common Man Family of Restaurants and The Martignetti Companies of New Hampshire, and sponsored by Meredith Village Savings Bank, this year’s festival will benefit Concord Hospital Payson Center for Cancer Care’s new radiation therapy equipment and technology.

Returning to the festival this year is a VIP room in the Carriage House at Church Landing, which debuted last year and sold out far in advance of the event. The VIP room features exclusive higher-end wine sampling and a commemorative glass.

The evening will also showcase an ice bar with spirits and beer from Cisco Brewers of Nantucket. The Brewery will be offering samples of their Whale’s Tale Ale and Triple Eight Vodka, with the latter being freshly mixed into martinis that will be poured down an ice sculpture luge created by Jeff Day of Not So Plain Jane’s in Rumney. The event will feature more than 20 vintners and distilleries, including Tamworth Distilling, Squam Brewing Company, Tito’s Hand Made Vodka, Macallan Scotch, Cline, Rombauer, Drambuie, Vision Wine & Spirits, Clayhouse, and Bogle, among others.

The Common Man’s Lakehouse Grille, Camp, Town Docks, and Lago will provide hors d’oeuvres and food to accompany the wines, as will Squam Lake Inn, Ooo La La Creative Cakes, The Corner House Inn, Ellacoya Barn & Grille, and Ben & Jerry’s. Entertainment will be provided by jazz duo Don Williams and Dave Tonkin, and numerous prizes will be up for grabs at a live auction and raffle, including a seaside getaway in Nantucket, an overnight stay at Church Landing at Mill Falls in Meredith, and a getaway to an Adirondack-style cabin. Also available will be dozens of one-of-a-kind silent auction items.

Tickets to the Grand Tasting are a $50 donation per person in advance, and $60 per person at the door. Tickets to the VIP Room are $100 and also include access to the Grand Tasting. Tickets can be purchased online at www.thecman.com/company-store/seasonal.aspx or by calling 603-968-9330.

Each year, proceeds from the event benefit a different non-profit. “Everything is donated at this event,” explains Diane Downing of the Common Man Family, who is organizing the festival, “the food, the wine, the staff—they graciously volunteer their time . . . the music is all donated. When you purchase your ticket for the event, every penny of that goes to the charity.”

A pre-Wine Festival Beach Party at the Common Man’s Town Docks outdoor Tiki Bar overlooking Lake Winnipesaukee in Meredith will be held the night before on Wednesday, June 22nd, starting at 6 pm. The evening will feature wine, fun beach food, and live music outdoors. Admission to the event is free and a portion of the evening’s sales will also benefit Payson Center for Cancer Care.

For attendees wishing to stay overnight for the Beach Party or Wine Festival, Mill Falls at the Lake is offering special Wine Festival rates on rooms, so guests can wine and dine all night long and not worry about driving home! Stay at the Inn at Mill Falls for $139 or at Church Landing for $199. There is a $50 upgrade fee for Jacuzzi rooms, and the cottages and lodges will be discounted by 15% off the normal rate. Rooms may be booked online at millfalls.com, or call Mill Falls at the Lake directly at 1-800-622-6455 and mention that you will be attending the Winnipesaukee Wine Festival. Room availability is limited and will be granted on a first come, first served basis.
