Annual Winnipesaukee Wine Festival Returns to Church Landing for 10th Year!

Wine Festival 2015Meredith is gearing up for the event of the year—two fun nights of fabulous food, wine, and music on the shore of Lake Winnipesaukee that will showcase wines from around the world, along with fabulous food from local restaurants—all while raising funds for the Veterans Count Program in New Hampshire.

The Tenth Annual Charitable Winnipesaukee Wine Festival’s grand tasting event will take place on Wednesday, June 24th in the Winnipesaukee Ballroom at Church Landing in Meredith. Festivities begin at 5:30 pm with auctions for getaways, appetizers from local restaurants, and over 150 wines and spirits. Hosted by The Common Man Family of Restaurants and The Martignetti Companies of New Hampshire, the festival will feature wine, spirits, and beer from local, national, and international wineries and breweries.

The evening will also feature an ice bar with spirits and beer from Cisco Brewers of Nantucket. The Brewery will be offering samples of their Whale’s Tale Ale and Triple Eight Vodka, with the latter being freshly mixed into martinis that will be poured down an ice sculpture luge created by Jeff Day of Not So Plain Jane’s in Rumney. The event will feature more than 20 vintners and distilleries, including Squam Brewing Company, Tito’s Hand Made Vodka, Rombauer, Cannonball, Maine Distilleries, Meomi, and Bogle, among others.

The Common Man’s Lakehouse Grille, Camp, and Lago will provide hors d’oeuvres and food to accompany the wines, as will Patrick’s Pub & Eatery, Ooo La La Creative Cakes, The Corner House Inn, and Ben & Jerry’s. Music for the event will be provided by the talented local jazz duo of Don Williams and David Tonkin, who play frequently throughout New Hampshire in various jazz ensembles and bands. Numerous prizes will be up for grabs at a live auction and raffle, including a seaside getaway in Nantucket, an overnight stay at Church Landing at Mill Falls in Meredith, and a getaway to an Adirondack-style cabin.

Wine festival tickets are a $50 donation per person in advance, and $60 per person at the door. Each year, proceeds from the event benefit a different non-profit, and this year it’s the Veterans Count, a program of Easter Seals. “Everything is donated at this event,” explains Diane Downing of the Common Man Family, who is organizing the festival, “the food, the wine, the staff—they graciously volunteer their time . . . the music is all donated. When you purchase your ticket for the event, every penny of that goes to the charity.”

Veterans Count, a program of Easter Seals, provides critical and timely financial assistance and services when no other resource is available to veterans, service members and their families of all eras.  Since 2007, Veterans Count has helped 8,600 individuals in a variety of ways including suicide prevention, homelessness, substance abuse treatment, employment, transportation, and mental health issues resulting from post-traumatic stress disorder and/or traumatic brain injury. Veterans Count supports families through a care coordination model and provides emergency financial assistance for food, home maintenance, housing, rent, fuel assistance, utilities, vehicle repair, gasoline, medical bills, and child care.

New this year is a VIP tasting room in the Carriage House at Church Landing, offering exclusive wines and featuring a commemorative glass! VIP tickets are $75 per person and give access to tastings of exclusive wines as well as admission to the grand tasting. Tickets for the VIP room or the grand tasting can also be purchased online here.

A pre-Wine Festival Beach Party at the Common Man’s Town Docks outdoor Tiki Bar overlooking Lake Winnipesaukee in Meredith will be held the night before on Tuesday, June 23rd, starting at 6 pm. The evening will feature wine, fun beach food, and live music outdoors. Admission to the event is free, and a portion of the evening’s sales will also benefit Veterans Count.
