Giuseppe’s Pizzeria to Host 21st Annual JTG Music Extravaganza

Giuseppe's guitarSince 1989, Giuseppe’s Show Time Pizzeria in Meredith, NH has been serving up great live music with its award-winning cuisine and festive charm. The restaurant is tucked away in the Mill Falls Marketplace and features well-known local and regional musicians seven nights a week. Once a year, this popular ristoranté throws a music extravaganza fundraiser that brings folks from all over New England to benefit local music students in their educational pursuits.

On Sunday, March 29th, Giuseppe’s Pizzeria & Ristorante will host the 21st Annual JTG Music Memorial Extravaganza, an 11-hour musical marathon and party! The show will benefit the Gnerre Music Scholarship Fund, which provides funds for Lakes Region area high school students who are entering college for their first year and continuing their education in the field of music. Since 1996, more than $34,000 in scholarships has been awarded to 38 local students from this fund.

The show will kick off at noon and run for 11 consecutive hours. More than 35 regional musicians will be donating their time and talents to provide live musical entertainment for this fun tradition! The featured acts throughout the afternoon and evening include solo artists, duos, trios, and full bands, who will perform a vast array of musical genres including folk, rock and roll, blues, Americana, bluegrass, original compositions, and alternative rock.

Here are the musicians and bands in order of performance: Michael Brien, Dr. Jack, Chris Kelly, John Theriault, Jeff Lines, Don Bergeron & Steve Colombo, Just Because, Peter Brunette, The Sweetbloods, Pocket Change, Paul Connor & Lou Porrazzo, Joel Cage, Paul Hubert, Paul Warnick & Co., Joe Gnerre with Cousin Billy Gnerre and Friends, Michael Bourgeois & Co., No Limitz, The Ossipee Mt. Boys, Alivia Aubut, The Prophets, and Jennifer Karnan.

The JTG Music Memorial Extravaganza is held each year at Giuseppe’s to commemorate its founder, Joe “Giuseppe” Gnerre, who passed in 1995. This extraordinary musical event began right after Joe’s passing, when friend of the family and local musician Peter Brunette, who hosted Giuseppe’s Open Stage, secretly organized more than 50 musicians to come play tribute to Joe. It was an amazing night of great music and emotional support for the musicians, family, and friends gathered. A black hat was passed around, which by the evening’s end collected about $350. After discussing what to do with the money, the family decided to start the music scholarship in Joe’s name to honor his life and passion.

For this year’s event, a suggested donation of $10 will be collected at the door and the hat will be passed around once again. In addition, there will be a silent auction featuring an array of fabulous items donated by Giuseppe’s sponsors. The auction will feature a snowboard, ski passes, an overnight stay at Mill Falls at the Lake, a gift certificate to Cascade Spa, a Romeo & Juliet cigar box guitar, a wrought iron saxophone player, and much more!

A Taylor 322 Mahogany guitar sponsored in-part by Northern Lights Music Store with a list price of $1,700 will be raffled at the Extravaganza as well. Raffle tickets are only $20, and the winning ticket will be drawn after all 100 tickets are sold. Tickets are on sale now at Giuseppe’s and ticket buyers do not need to be present to win.

Scholarship applications are now available for qualifying graduating Lakes Region high school students who will be continuing their education in the field of music, musical arts, or music theatre for the upcoming 2015/2016 academic year.

Reservations to the JTG Music Memorial Extravaganza are required as this event sells out! For more information or to reserve your spot, please call Giuseppe’s at 603-279-3313.
