Meredith Village Gets into the Holiday Spirit!

Holiday-Horses-1024x695This weekend, the lakeside village of Meredith, NH will become a little more festive as The Mill Falls Marketplace transforms into a winter wonderland of old-fashioned holiday charm, while The Winnipesaukee Playhouse celebrates the season with a new twist on some well-loved classic Christmas tunes—with lots of laughs and good cheer!

On Saturday, December 6th, The Winnipesaukee Playhouse and Not Your Mom’s Musical Theater will present “Something Wonderful I Missed! Holiday Edition.” This fun new show is an innovative concert that mixes great songs from Broadway and Off-Broadway musicals with the sometimes hilarious stories behind those songs. Four versatile performers playing a range of characters will present a concert of holiday selections from several musicals, including classics such as “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas” and “We Need A Little Christmas,” as well as lesser-known gems. This is the first year-round season for the Winnipesaukee Playhouse, so come on out and support great local theater! Tickets are $25 for Orchestra seating and $15 for Balcony. For information on upcoming shows or to purchase tickets, please visit www.winnipesaukeeplayhouse.org or call 603-279-0333.

The Mill Falls Marketplace will host its annual Holiday Open House on Sunday, December 7th. Guests will be able to enjoy traditional strolling carolers while they browse at this beautifully renovated mill building and surrounding shops. There will also be refreshments, and live entertainment by Merry Poppins. Horse drawn wagon rides around Meredith Village will be available from 1 – 4pm, and guided Sculpture Strolls at 1, 2, and 3pm will highlight some pieces from the new Meredith Sculpture Walk. In the atrium of the Oglethorpe building, author and local resident Bryan Halperin will read his book “Too Hot For Santa” at 1pm, and illustrator and children’s author Cheryl Bloser will read her book “Little Mouse and the Big Green Frog” at 2:30pm. Ron Guilmette and Jay Leccese, authors of “The Islands of Winnipesaukee” will be at Innisfree Bookshop for a book signing from 2–4 pm. Kids can visit Santa at Great Northern Trading Co. from 1–3 pm!
