Visit the Arts Collaborative During NH Open Doors Weekend

As spring blooms across New England, more and more people venture outside to explore the awakening world around them. This is a perfect time to pause and enjoy the beauty that is being created, both in nature and by our talented fellow artists. In this spirit, art galleries and local shops throughout New Hampshire will open their doors and welcome the public this Saturday and Sunday for the annual NH Open Doors Weekend. Here in Meredith, The Arts Collaborative is planning something special for this fun event!

NH Open Doors Weekend will take place on May 6th and 7th, 2017. This is a statewide touring and shopping event that spotlights the hidden gems and extraordinary talents that make New Hampshire such a unique and wonderful place. Visitors can shop for distinctive products made in NH, see demonstrations by artists and craftspeople in their studios, sample fresh products from farmstands and orchards, and enjoy special events and cultural attractions.

At the Arts Collaborative in Meredith, folks can meet several onsite and visiting artists and craftspeople to learn, browse, and watch demonstrations. Visit the Arts Collaborative from 10a to 5p Saturday and from 12p to 5p Sunday to meet onsite artist-blacksmith David Little and visiting wood, metal, and ceramic artist Steven Hayden. Visitors may also indulge their creativity with fun, simple hands on activities for all ages. The Arts Collaborative is the Lakes Region’s only arts complex, art teaching studio, gallery, and fine furniture showroom all at one creative campus. For NH Open Doors Weekend, the studio plans to host several local artists, including some who have contributed to the Meredith Sculpture Walk.

The Arts Collaborative is owned and operated by artist-blacksmith David Little and teaching artist Heidi Little. David’s Winnipesaukee Forge is on the property, where he “reinterprets nature in forged metal.” Visitors can see his forged leaf and vine designs in his furniture, lamps, wall decor, fire screens, railings, and more. His signature “Spring Fiddleheads” will also be available.

Dave and Heidi Little are thrilled to participate in NH Open Doors weekend for the fourth time. “We’ll be glad to welcome you and we encourage everyone to make a day of it. Come and see us, do the Meredith Sculpture Walk where you can see the sailboat Dave and Steve created, enjoy a meal, and visit other galleries and art studios in the Lakes Region and all over the state.”
