09 Jun Winnipesaukee Wine Festival Returns to Mill Falls
The Lakes Region of NH is getting ready for the event of the season—two fun nights of fabulous food, wine, and music on the shore of Lake Winnipesaukee that will showcase wines from around the world, along with fabulous food from local restaurants—all while raising funds for a local charitable cause.
The 12th Annual Charitable Winnipesaukee Wine Festival’s grand tasting event will take place on Thursday, June 29th in the Winnipesaukee Ballroom at Church Landing in Meredith. Festivities begin at 5:30 pm with auctions for getaways, appetizers from local restaurants, and samples of more than 100 wines, craft beers, and spirits from local, national, and international producers. Hosted by The Common Man Family of Restaurants and The Martignetti Companies of New Hampshire, and sponsored by Meredith Village Savings Bank, this year’s festival will benefit Girls at Work.
Returning to the festival this year is a VIP room in the Carriage House at Church Landing, which was a hit the past two years. The VIP room features exclusive high-end wine sampling and a commemorative glass. VIP tickets also include the Grand Tasting.
The Grand Tasting will showcase an ice bar with spirits and beer from Cisco Brewers of Nantucket. The Brewery will be offering samples of their craft beer and Triple Eight Vodka, with the latter being freshly mixed into martinis that will be poured down an ice sculpture luge created by Jeff Day of Not So Plain Jane’s in Rumney. The event will feature more than 20 vintners and distilleries, including Tamworth Distilling, Squam Brewing Company, Amoskeag Beverages, Tito’s Handmade Vodka, Hendrick’s Gin, Cold River Vodka, Treasury Wine Estates, Cline Cellars, Rombauer, Caymus, J Lohr, and Bogle, among others.
The Common Man’s Lakehouse Grille, Camp, Town Docks, and Lago will provide hors d’oeuvres and food to accompany the wines, as will The Corner House Inn, Ooo La La Creative Cakes, Six Burner Bistro, Ben & Jerry’s, and other local restaurants. Entertainment will be provided by jazz duo Don Williams and Dave Tonkin, and numerous prizes will be up for grabs at a live auction and raffle, including a seaside getaway in Nantucket, an overnight stay at Church Landing at Mill Falls in Meredith, and a getaway to an Adirondack-style cabin. One-of-a-kind silent auction items built by young women in the Girls at Work program will be up for bid, and participants of the program will conduct building demonstrations in a tent just outside the event hall.
Tickets to the Grand Tasting are a $75 donation per person in advance, and $85 per person at the door. Tickets to the VIP Room are $125 and also include access to the Grand Tasting. Tickets can be purchased online here, at Lakehouse restaurant, or at the door as quantities allow.
Each year, proceeds from the event benefit a different non-profit. “Everything is donated at this event,” explains Diane Downing of the Common Man Family, who is organizing the festival, “the food, the wine, the staff—they graciously volunteer their time . . . the music is all donated. When you purchase your ticket for the event, every penny of that goes to the charity.”
A pre-Wine Festival Beach Party at the Common Man’s Town Docks outdoor Tiki Bar overlooking Lake Winnipesaukee in Meredith will be held the night before on Wednesday, June 28th, starting at 6 pm. The evening will feature wine, fun beach food, and live music outdoors. Admission to the event is free and a portion of the evening’s sales will also benefit Girls at Work.
For attendees wishing to stay overnight for the Beach Party or Wine Festival, Mill Falls at the Lake is offering special Wine Festival rates. They are $139 for Mill Falls and $159 for a Mill Falls lake-view room. Standard rooms at Bay Point and Chase House are $179, and $209 at Church Landing.
