16 Jan Winter Adventures at Prescott Farm
Many New Englanders say the best way to enjoy winter is to get outside and play in the snow! Besides skiing, skating, and snowmobiling, there are some quieter activities that don’t require much money or special equipment, but still get the heart pumping and the spirit soaring. For folks who like these gentler pursuits, Prescott Farm in Laconia has some great winter programs lined up…
Tonight, Thursday January 16th, is the full moon! Join the staff at Prescott Farm for their Full Moon Snowshoe Walk at 6:30pm, a wonderful opportunity to get out at night and take a walk through the snow under the bright light of winter’s full moon. You are welcome to bring your own snowshoes or borrow some from the farm. Hot chocolate, tea and coffee will be served after the walk. The cost for the guided walk is $7 per person, or $5 for Prescott Farm members, with a discount for family groups.
On weekends throughout the winter, Prescott Farm is hosting guided daytime snowshoe hikes. This Saturday, January 18th, visitors can try a brisk Snowshoe Fitness Walk or a leisurely Snowshoe Adventure Hike:
The Snowshoe Fitness Walk takes place on Saturday at 9am, and is a faster fitness pace for adults. Step outdoors this winter for a heart-healthy snowshoe walk through the farm’s majestic forest. The cost is $7 per person or $5 for members (price includes snowshoe rental). Registration is required. Call 603-366-5695 to save your spot.
The Snowshoe Adventure Hike begins at 11am on Saturday, and is slower paced for all ages. Explore the woods by snowshoe to see what the natural world has to offer this winter season. The group will wander to places where animal tracks lead, and perhaps be distracted by a bird or interesting tree along the way, but that’s okay because, after all, this will be an adventure! The cost is $7 per person or $5 for members (price includes snowshoe rental). Registration is required. Call 603-366-5695 to get in on this popular hike!
Also on most Saturdays at Prescott Farm this winter are free Sledding Parties in the afternoons at 1pm. If Mother Nature provides the snow, then the farm will provide the hill for some sledding fun! So bundle up, grab your sled, and bring your family to a Sledding Party. Prescott Farm welcomes you to pack a lunch to enjoy in the warmth of their “green” building, where hot cocoa and other light snacks will be available to purchase. Although participation is free, registration is required. Call 603-366-5695 to reserve your spot!
This January is shaping up to be a fun one, so don’t miss out on the stunning scenery and the unique joys of the season. Happy Winter!
